REAL ID Information
***THE REGISTER OF DEEDS OFFICE DOES NOT ISSUE REAL ID's. THE BELOW IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.***
Beginning May 3rd, 2023, federal agencies will enforce tougher security standards at airport check-ins, federal buildings, military installations and nuclear sites. The N.C. REAL ID will make it more convenient when you need to board a commercial airplane or visit a military base or other federal facility. The Register of Deeds office is an important piece of the puzzle in terms of obtaining a real ID. The Iredell County Register of Deeds has access to births that occurred in Iredell County dating all the way back to 1913. Our office also has access to the North Carolina Vital Records database, which allows us to print birth certificates from other NC counties as long as the birth occurred after 1971.
The NC REAL ID driver licenses carry a gold Without a star, licenses and IDs now carry the
star in the upper right-hand corner. "NOT FOR FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION" label.
